The knitted vest made an appearance last season, but this season it is your must-have piece to update your look. Adding a knitted vest to your shirts, dresses and tops gives you a fresh new perspective that’s right on trend and looks great - it’s also practical and versatile.

The knitted vest is at the top of my new season wishlist. I’m going to be wearing mine simply over some striped shirts that I have. But really, a vest looks great over anything - a simple white t-shirt, shirt, dress or top - it seems that any collar works.

For something new, a trend I’ve seen this season is to wear them on their own with no top underneath or over a dress for that extra layer.

If you are looking for a truly classic vest and shirt look, go for the collared shirt, but for an updated look, wear the shirt done up to the very top button and have your collar either in or out of the vest with the cuffs undone, turned over and pulled up to the elbow for a casual on-trend look.

Another option when wearing with a shirt is to wear a fitting shirt tucked in so you just see the collar and sleeves, or you can go for the oversized shirt look and leave it untucked so you see the lower hems of the shirt from under the vest. And of course in the cooler months ahead, you can easily add a jacket over the vest for another layer.

Knitted Vests are the height of fashion this season and quite a small investment (no pun intended).
